 The journey of Nezone was initiated very humbly in 1983 with a single plant in Guwahati (Assam) for manufacturing Electric Resistance Welded black and galvanised pipes targeting mainly the North-Eastern market. With competitive pricing, stringent adherence to quality and clinching commitment to customers, our products soon started travelling much beyond the North East.”

Buoyed by this success, we went in for capacity expansion by commissioning a new manufacturing facility at Dankuni, near Calcutta in 1990. We also undertook diversification at the same location by setting up manufacturing facilities for Cold Rolled Close Annealed (CRCA) Strips and Precision Tubes. The plant, close to the Calcutta port, is strategically positioned to serve customers around the globe within the shortest possible time. The expansion therefore, came in handy to cater to the new opportunities opening up with the liberalisation of Indian economy.

With the turn of the century, the fruits of economic liberalisation started reaching wider than ever and there was a surge of demand in the domestic market. We went for a second phase of expansion by setting up another plant in Byrnihat (Meghalaya) in the year 2004.

Today Nezone is regarded as a leader in the world of manufacturing welded steel tubes & pipes and CRCA Strips. We stand to address market opportunities with customers worldwide through these three units having a combined manufacturing capacity of 2,00,000 MT for steel welded tubes and pipes, and 24,000 MT of Cold Rolled Close Annealed (CRCA) strips per year. The array of applications of Nezone’s products range from: water supply and irrigation to structural and scaffolding, from automotive to other general engineering purposes. Nezone is well poised to cater to India’s double-digit growth path. We produce whatever our customers order. To us every order is different and is therefore, a new challenge. For special long-term customers, we even make short-run products. This strategy has paid us good dividend, because 85 per cent of our customers are repeat customers. The degree of customers confidence is demonstrated by the fact that usually Nezone’s order book position is 80 per cent of its optimum capacity. We have a basic objective: not to be only globally competitive, but to also live up to commitments both in terms of delivery and quality.

Another important reason behind Nezone’s prominence is its technically skilled workforce. Our workers have remained with us as members of the Nezone family, grown with us and in the process have gathered invaluable experience. The skill they have honed not only leads to our customers delight, but also gives us the confidence to accept new challenges.

The journey so far, I reckon with, has been rewarding. Most of our products have been globally accepted by a wide range of customers and the group turnover for the year 2015-16 is likely to cross Rs 1000 crores (US$ 220 million). This has made us more responsive and more responsible to our esteemed customers. You’ll see a glimpse of this commitment, I promise, in every step that Nezone takes in its journey forward.
